A trucker is a person driving a truck that transports cargo over long
distances. This profession has always been shrouded in romance and a passion
for adventure.
The work of a trucker is a hell of daily work. You have to sit behind the
wheel for days, driving hundreds of kilometers. The average age of a truck
driver is 40 years. There are few newcomers in this business, many simply
cannot withstand the crazy tension.
The truck driver has to closely monitor the loading process so that the
cargo during the transportation is not damaged. Then drive a certain distance
to the destination. Often, drivers are forced to move at night. And on the way,
there can be various unplanned situations that take away a lot of nerves. For
example, some detail may fail, and you will need to repair the car right on the
track. At the same time on the street may be snow, frost or rain. You still
have to do repairs so that the truck reaches the place of unloading and
delivers the goods in a timely manner.
Thus, the trucker should be well aware of the technical features of his car
and be able to perform minor repairs. In the event of major damage will have to
drive away from the truck (or semi-trailer) to the service station.
Sometimes the trucker can take part in the handling and forwarding
operations. These duties must be specified in the contract.
We can not say about the living conditions of the driver-trucker. As a
rule, breakfast, lunch, and dinner have in the cabin. Moreover, many drivers
prepare food on their own to save travel money. In addition, cooked food is
still better than the purchase. Experienced drivers have gas burners, on which
they prepare their own meals (soup or pasta).
Taking a shower is often also necessary in a car, more precisely in a
semitrailer. In some roadside cafes, there are shower rooms in which for a fee
you can be bought in a human way.
Truckers spend the night, as a rule, in a car cabin on a berth. To do this,
choose a safe place.
Some people think that truck drivers are peculiar tourists who come to
different cities and countries and have the opportunity to see interesting
sights. But, as a rule, all truckers see is warehouses somewhere on the
outskirts of cities, porters and storekeepers. They drive a car all day, and
they have no time to deal with the sightseeing of various cities.
Many truckers do not have a family, as they are rarely at home. Which wife
will like the husband, who happens to be with her and the children only one day
in two weeks or a month?
As you can see, the work of a trucker is a difficult profession associated
with constant stress, risk, sleepless nights and the need to solve problems
arising in the way. However, these truckers are not afraid. They simply cannot
live without a road, and they are pulled into flights just a few days after
arriving home. For such people, the trucker profession has become their
destiny.
